You don't usually need machine-specific install CDs. I got a used copy of an
iBook OS 9.1 install disk and successfully installed it on my Starmax. I
then also used it to upgrade my daughter's 1st gen iMac from 8.6 to 9.1, and
also on my Beige Power Mac. Don't tell Apple.  Later I did the
internet-download upgrade on my Beige to 9.2.2 and my daughter did the same
recently w/ the iMac.
