Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Unfortunately the old 410 fossil may not be worth the trouble, my wife (not an old fossil, but not a computer person either) wanted to keep it and use it for playing the old games. My plan was to connect the 410 to my Starmax so it would mount to the desktop as another drive, I could drag everything off of the 410, reformat it & do a clean install of os7. The 410 doesn't have ethernet, but I think I'll try the serial ports and local talk suggestion. Thanks!
