I have two partitions with OS9.1. I booted up in one of them and tried the
OS9.2.1 patch and installing the OS 9.2.1 upgrade on the non booted
partition. I got a message that The upgrade cannot be used on this machine.
I did try installing Wish I Were on the target boot partition. Maybe that
was my mistake. Maybe I need to install it on my boot partition so the
installer will read the computer as other than a 4400? What Apple computer
do I select to have WIW show? I didn't see and good G3/4 options. I want to
get OS9.2.1 (or 9.2.2) working so I can use my older ipod with itunes. I
assume that booting from a CD is out as the computer hardware will show a
4400 and no G3 card will show up? Can someone walk me through how they did
it. Boot up extensions off or on? Install to the boot partition or another
partition? How did Wish I Were or work? (What hardware was chosen?) Is
Wannabe a better program?

I would suggest reading up on the old patcher method on OS 9 Forever <http://www.os9forever.com/os92x.html>. Using Wish I Were is problematic on the StarMax machines because the wrong drivers are installed.
