> Reseting pram from keyboard only does half a job. > Cuda switch does full job.
I know - I do it from the keyboard to maintain the clock... Though when I fit the new battery, I might press the CUDA button just to make sure. > When computer is powered the battery may be low but the charge (trickle) may > keep the pram info intack unless the line voltage momentarily swings low. I know that, too - the point is, though, that there are times when I power off the whole set-up at the wall to try to make the Mac boot (I'm sure I'm not the only one here who finds that 'Maxen will sometimes refuse to reboot - they can just lock up after Mac OS shuts down or you press cmd-ctrl- power). This is the period when I assume the low battery must be corrupting my Energy Saver settings (*if* that is the cause of the problem), but surely at 1.7 V, I'd also lose all the rest of the settings, too. Now, the page does say "Let the motherboard sit for several minutes to discharge PRAM fully" so maybe that explains it - I'd have to leave it unplugged for several minutes for it to get toasted by the battery. Eh, well, I'll buy a new battery, CUDA it (if I can reach the switch), and see if it stops dropping into sleep. If not, I'll have Apple's head on a (drive) platter ;P -- StarMax is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> StarMax list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/starmax.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/starmax%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
