Yeah, I've had something similar - Mac crashed and dropped into MacsBug and
all I could do is reboot it, but it refused to boot from any disc at all.
Turned out that the SCSI cable to the Zip drive had gone funny - dirty
contacts at one end I guess (I found that the Mac would boot fine if I
switched off the Zip drive). Reconnected it, and everything was fine after
that.
