The thing to do is to buy a decent video card and forget the onboard video.
What I would do is find a voodoo3 PCI card and flash it to Mac (places on
the net have all the instructions for flashing). Keeping it simple there
are mac video cards ready to run in a Starmax, but the old voodoo cards are
cheap and fast.
