On the underside of the drive, there are two rows of pins which so
far, have one jumper on them in the eighth position from the right
side. In other words, when viewed from upside down with data
receptacle at the top, the jumper is on the fifth set of jumpers to
the right of the outer edge of the drive.

There's something of an index, detailing what each set of the 21 pins
are for. According to this index sticker, and going from left to
right, position:

12 = LED out
11 = Disable Parity
10 = Delay Start 6/12
9 = Auto Start Delay
8 = Spare
7 = Disable Unit Attn
6 = SCSI Term On
5 = Disable Auto Spin
4 = ID Bit 0
3 = ID Bit 1
2 = ID Bit 2
1 = Spare [50 pin] ID bit 3 [For Wide]

Can anyone please tell on which set of pins this SCSI ID cable should
be connected to?

I had this same problem with a La Cie external case, and solved it by ignoring
the jumper switch, and just putting a standard black jumper on ID#2 and the pin
next to it. (I assume that was the "spare"). The computer then recognized the
drive. Try that and see if it works.
