I was able to resolve the problem by using JB Weld to glue the plastic CPU clip to the edges of the CPU; I was then able to reinstall the HSFwithout difficulty.

I need a new PRAM battery; will be using a 3-AAA holder from Radio Shack rather
than the pricey Rayovac item.

Outstanding issues:

* CD is goofy (I understand I need an older CD driver extension; it's a Sony
SCSI CD drive)
* Power switch doesn't work - need to unplug machine to turn it off - possibly
PRAM battery?
* need the correct driver for Farallon Ethernet card. Tough to track down.

Thanks for the suggestions on the HSF problem,
Les

Hi,
I have a Starmax 3000/200 (603e) with a Newertech g3/260 (L2) accel card. The
heatsink uses a plastic clip over the CPU with a threaded hole in the middle;
the heatsink/fan screws into the hole til it contacts the CPU. The plastic clip
is broken and isn't secure to the chip. Is there any alternative g3 HSF assy I
can use? This machine came to me that way, along with a Farallon Ethernet and a
ixMicro TV card.

Thanks,
Les
