Hi C.J., Your StarMax would love 8.6 and so would you! Give it a shot. I put 9.1 in my 3000 but it turned out slower than 8.6 -- or so it seems. Next time I'll partition and put 9.1 by itself on a small 1st partition and see how that goes.
