Everyone I know who has a Tele Vue refractor is satisfied with the quality,
optically and mechanically. They are available. They are sturdy.

Thanks Chad, this almost strikes me as the ideal telescope for the
range of things I want to do with one for now. It does bring up an
interesting issue though, and I'm curious what you all think about
this in terms of how it affects buying choices: this telescope is out
of stock until January. I've thought about which telescope to get for
a while now, so you could argue that there's no hurry, but do you
think I should wait three or four months for an order to arrive, or
are there other makes that have a similar weight to performance ratio?
