I have placed the SNP Student lab lab and 12 accompanying SNP files on the new Starry Night Egroup web page. Just visit http://www.egroups.com/group/StarryNight, click on the Files link on the left side of the page and open my folder. Inside you will find the complete lab in either zip file format, or as 13 individual files. To save the zip file to your hard drive to open later, say "Yes" if a message appears identifying the file as an "HTML" file and asking you to open it with your browser. Then save it to any folder you wish on your drive, and unzip it. To save individual files, simply click once on them and save them to disk.
If you have trouble with these files, let me know and I will send them to you individually.

I have now completed my Starry Night Pro student computer lab. It
numbers over 20 pages and comes with a multi-page Data sheet to record
the answers to over 200 questions and data entries. Complete
instructions for every keystroke and button to push in SNP is included
in the lab. It is by no means a course in Astronomy, but rather employs
SNP to touch upon a host of topics, to include the solar neighborhood,
magnitudes, binaries, interstellar distances, star types, the H-R
Diagram, galaxies, constellations, the zodiac, Messier objects, the
solar system, comets, asteroids, planet orbits and surfaces, satellites,
moons and solar/lunar eclipses. It is not intended to be the main
teaching instruction for any of these topics, but is designed to augment
what students may have already learned. The lab is written in MS Word
97 and is formated to be graded by the instructor. It takes students
about 6 - 8 hours to complete, depending upon their abilities to operate
SNP. Accompanying the lab are 12 custom designed SNP files, to be
opened as instructed in the lab.If you would like to use the lab and SNP files in your instruction
and/or to post on your website, feel free to do so. I ask only
copyright recognition and a brief statement of introduction. As my time
permits, I will be revising the lab to add new things.I would include the lab here, but I don't think this Discussion
forum accepts attachments. Therefore, I have just sent the files and
lab to about 10 of you so far, who asked me in a previous E-mail to do
so. Please check your E-mails. For anyone else who would have a need
for a student oriented lab that could be used in teaching instruction,
please feel free to e-mail me a request for the files. Alternatively,
if anyone is willing to put the entire package on their website to be
downloaded as a single zip file, let me know and I'll send you the
