As you said, there may be some complications. We don't typically build a
general-purpose upgrade script for our systems; they get updated a bit
at a time, with different pieces being updated separately. One-off SQL
queries and bits of bash code are how our upgrades happen.
I guess I haven't made it clear enough: if you need support for an
upgrade, it's not time for you to upgrade yet.
