I've written up some notes on the wiki on the state of RTL languages in
StatusNet, including an annotated example of an incorrectly laid-out notice:

I'm hoping to fix up at least the individual notice layout by 0.9.0
final (there are some sample patches in queue that I should be able to
polish up), though I'm not sure we'll have time to create properly
mirrored theme variants for when the UI is displaying in Arabic or Hebrew.
