You are absolutely and totally 100% incorrect.

One thing that may make you think that that's the behaviour is that, if
you are subscribed to someone who posts a repeat of something said in a
group, and you are using the XMPP or SMS output, you will see those
repeats come through multiple times.

That doesn't mean they were reposted to the group. It means that you're
subscribed to someone who's repeated something. We optimize that out in
the Web UI, but not in the XMPP UI.

That may be worth doing in the future, though. I think we could suppress
distribution of repeats to XMPP users if they already received the
original.
