1. I have built 5488 OK and will have it at:
       

http://barry.sarcasmogerdes.com/stellarium/uploads/stellarium-5488-win32.exe
 in about 30 mins
2. the stellarium.iss file is screwed up. I edited my copy to find the mingw 
dlls OK    I have had to do that for some time now as the auto generated 
version has not worked for months.
You talk about virtual environments. I gather you have VMware on your main 
system. What is your main O/S and what version of VMware do you have.
