That is only part of the problem. Updating catalogues is OK but if an existing 
system suddenly stops working because of the update with no explanation it will 
be difficult for most to work out what has happenned. By a  system of 
elimination I will now work out what has to be done to fix the catalogues. The 
star catalogues are broken into two sections on normal installations where the 
larger catalogues with the starconfig.json are kept in a common area while the 
distribution catalogues are in the program area. If you modify the common area 
you will always have problems of this sort of incompatability.
