No Georg. The file is back now.
I was testing to see if the old ASCII file would work but that wasn't possible
while I was connected to the internet.
I need a way to read the ngc2000.dat binary version and haven't found the way
yet.
I think those extra catalogues will have some use although none of our group of
astro photographers use Stellarium for anything but a basic goto and the
pretty pictures. Most of the special catalogues are useless in the southern
hemisphere.
We travel to Wiruna (its in maps.google) on new moon weekend for observing and
photography and we have semi-permanent mounts.
