The application has always been more verbose that it should be.  This can 
largely be handled by making - as it very clearly should be - the minimum log 
level in the production app to be warn or error, instead of the very 
inappropriate debug.  But these last several batches of commits make this 
worse.  Not only do the do inane things like log the exact same information 
twice in a row using only different verbiage (i.e. GL Shading Language versus 
GLSL), they show a gross lack of basic software development skills.

If someone wants to dump lots of information about the host computer, that 
should be handled by a command line argument that simply dumps the desired 
information, then exits.  Obtaining host system information should be clearly 
separated from running the application itself.
