Hi

I've been working, or trying to work a material I bought
as "Alpine Jade" which I believe to be a green porphyry.
(I'm working a block very appx 1mx0.25mx a depth varying
from 25cm to about 12cm, like a cylinder flattened at
one end) It's very very hard, has ruined a lot of
tungsten. It has a kind of layered structure with
inconvenient inclusions and streaks of calcite (?)

Has anyone worked anything like this, or know what green
porphyry looks like, where it comes from? Or could
anyone help me to identify it? I'm not very good at
reading matrices but I could have a go if someone
prompted me.

Thanks
