sources of periodicals and books about your local stones ... he is
also an invaluable source of information himself. He is located
in Vancouver.
Some other suggestions, " http://www.sculpturebooks.co.uk/ "
carries a wide assortment of books about sculpture, carving, etc.
and if you inquire may have books about the carving mediums
(stones). You may also want to try " http://www.ksc.nasa.gov/ "
which is the USGS Mineral Resource Program. They have field
reports, maps, and various information about quarries and natural
resources. Although a great deal of information is available
regarding dimensional stone for the building industry, I have also
found a great deal of the information valuable in its discussion
of the chemical composition of the stones, where they are found,
etc.
