I had the privilege recently to visit noguchi's workshop on the island of shikoku in japan (and the good fortune to meet him some years ago at his garden museum in long island city...at 85 he still twinkled with creative energy) his grave site there is most appropriate for a sculptor of stone... a large granite boulder was split open, hollowed out to receive his ashes and reassembled...there he resides, within the stone) ............................................
