Hi Troy, Yes the sandstone should be great. The most important thing to be
sure the piece used for the basin will hold water ( no cracks ) and that the
water will always be deep enough to keep the pump submerged. Maybe you'll
want to hollow out the basin first and test it before proceeding. Remember
sandstone is quite abrasive, and will wear you tools some. The top piece
gets a hole drilled vertically to accept the tube from your pump outlet, and
the height to which the water is raised will determine whether it sprays or
dribbles. You'll want to experiment with different lenghts of tube ( and
flow adjustment if the pump has it ) to get the right height before you
select and mount the top piece. It can be set on intermediate stones to hide
the pump or you can make a cavity in the bottom side to fit over the pump.
