Before you check (and fix) the .htaccess file, note the timestamp on it. Search your logs thoroughly for accesses occurring at that time.
If you find nothing, or nothing suspicious, try a search on ixwebhosting hacked and see if any details you find look familiar to you. This .htaccess modification attack seems quite prevalent this week, enough to suspect a mass attack of some kind.
