"The proposed sale would enhance NATO inter-operability and simultaneously provide operational capabilities as Poland's inventory of Soviet-era aircraft is eventually retired," the Pentagon said in a statement. The sale could include 44 F-16C/D Block 50/52 aircraft, 12 F-16A Block 15 aircraft, four F-16A Block 10 aircraft, and two F-16A Block 10 aircraft to be stripped for parts, the Pentagon said. The package also could include 384 AIM-120c Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM), 384 AIM-9M-2 Sidewinder missiles and 816 AGM-65G Maverick short-range air-to-ground missiles. Poland could also be sold bombs and tail kits for satellite guided Joint Direct Attack Munitions (JDAM) as well as hundreds of cluster bombs and precision guided bombs.
