No, I don't think the tear gas is what killed the protester. I sent one
earlier story that you may refer to Cynthia, as well as this reference from
reuters on the pttp list may be of some help. Last report 20,000 MP's are in
Genoa alone, so I am sure this report of Police Brutality is yet the first
but surely not the last, during this summit.

GENOA (Reuters) - A protester was shot in the head on Friday by an Italian
paramilitary trooper and run over by a security van while a big power summit
was under way in Genoa, a witness said.
