New question for you all.
What do you use to manange storage space? In my case, I have
multiple Sun 3510 storage arrays attached to Sun systems. Since we
can't yet use ZFS in my environment, what's the best way to manage
all the different LD's created over time, and connected to
different systems? Any automated mappers out there? Or is a
simple spreadsheet the best tool for the job?
Spreadsheets of course would work but are pretty cumbersome to manage.
I use a wiki system to note changes to the LD/LV configurations on my
3510/3511's which is helpful because multiple people managed these
arrays where I work. If you go that route, make sure that your
documentation system isn't housed on said arrays... it's kind of hard
to get to the documentation if the array which houses it is down :)
We also store configuration dumps (get them using the sccli command
line program) from our 35xxx's in the wiki.
