Hi River,

Sorry for the late response because of the Chinese New Year Holiday.

CR 6446083 has been filed to solve the problem in the mpt driver, the fixing is undergoing.

The workaround for this problem from my side is,

1. Backup the mpt driver(/kerne/drv/amd64/mpt) before you install the new patch. 2. Restore the mpt driver with the backup driver after the installation completes.

*or*

do the same operation, but backup and restore the sd driver(/kernel/drv/amd64/sd).

I will let the colleagues in mpt team know this problem and see if they can supply
other workarounds for you. If my workaround can solve your problem at the
moment, please let me know, and I think the fix for the mpt driver will be released
soon.

Hope helpful,
Nikko

hello,

we have a V40z with an 53c1030 (LSI1030) SCSI HBA (not the V40z's
onboard controller). connected to this is an Infortrend A12U-G2421
RAID array, exporting a single 2.2TB LUN (4685312733 sectors).

the system is currently running Solaris 10 3/05 with KU 118855-19, and
works fine (including the >2TB LUN). this morning i attempted to apply
118855-36, which includes the fix for:

6322028 Need SCSA mechanism to detect maximum length CDB support

which i believe is causing the following message at boot:

PCI-device: pci1022,[EMAIL PROTECTED], pci_pci6
pci_pci6 is /[EMAIL PROTECTED],0/pci1022,[EMAIL PROTECTED]

WARNING: /[EMAIL PROTECTED],0/pci1022,[EMAIL PROTECTED]/pci1000,[EMAIL
PROTECTED]/[EMAIL PROTECTED],0 (sd6):
disk capacity is too large for current cdb length

the LUN does not attach, and running 'format' displays the same error
(and does not show the disk). backing out 118855-36 restored the disk.

i understand 16-byte CDBs are required for large LUN support, but since
the older driver is working fine, i assume mpt must already have the
necessary support.

how can i make my LUN work with 118855-36?

        - river.
