When I've seen this in the past, it usually indicated a failure to indicate the
kernel model during compilation. More specifically, I believe the
"-Wu,-xmodel=kernel" option was missing. It's probably either that (although I
don't know why that would happen), or perhaps the wrong (an old?) compiler was
used.
