I don't have any CPU utilization numbers, but i have 8 machines using a single core-2 Duo for all storage (including the boot drive) and haven't been seen the load spike above 0.2.
attached is the IOZone info comparing one of my solaris boxes to a Equalogic unit (these are rough numbers as the equalogic had a light load, the solaris did not at the time). I unfortunately do not still have the raw numbers from this test (indeed i had to dig around my emails to get these). Intel DG965RY Core2 Duo 2x Supermicro AOC-SAT2-MV8 8-port SATA-2 controller (in PCI slots) 1x Intel EXPI9404PT Pro/1000 4 port NIC 1x Intel PWLA8490MT Pro/1000 1 port NIC (in PCI slot) (only the 4 port is used for iSCSI traffic, and iSCSI traffic only) Boot from ZFS-Mirror and storage on RAID-Z on SVN_68, YMMV (See attached file: equallogic v solaris.pdf) Andrew Hettinger http://Prominic.NET || [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel: 866.339.3169 (toll free) -or- +1.217.356.2888 x.110 (int'l) Fax: 866.372.3356 (toll free) -or- +1.217.356.3356 (int'l) Mobile direct: 1.217.621.2540 CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCP Narasimha Raghunandan a To <[EMAIL PROTECTED] [email protected] mware.com> cc Sent by: storage-dis Subject cuss-bounce Re: [storage-discuss] iSCSI target [EMAIL PROTECTED] performance is.org 10/17/2007 02:36 PM Sorry for not being clear on this. I was looking for numbers that show the thruput, CPU utilization and IOPS of the target at various IO sizes. I understand this depends on how well the physical storage performs, but any data that any one may have would help.
