Hi

I have been trying to configure SAMBA with ADS as per this blog entry:

http://blogs.sun.com/jurasek/entry/ads_domain_member_server1

I cannot get past the step where you use ktpass to generate a kerberos
key in a file on the windows server. I have surfed around trying to
resolve this with no luck! I have seen people with similar problems but
their solutions did not work for me.

This is the command I use on our AD server, which is running windows
server 2003 R2 x64 Enterprise Edition SP2 :

ktpass -princ HOST/[EMAIL PROTECTED] -mapuser
NSG-ISV\isv-x4500b -pass ******* -out isv-x4500b.keytab

And the error message I get is:

DsCrackNames returned 0x5 in the name entry for NSG-ISV\isv-x4500b.
ktpass:failed getting target domain for specified user.

If I drop the NSG-ISV from the mapuser argument I get:

DsCrackNames returned 0x2 in the name entry for isv-x4500b.
ktpass:failed getting target domain for specified user.

The user isv-x4500b can login. DNS is working correctly and isv-x4500b
is configured correctly in DNS. The AD server is supporting a large
number of windows servers with no issues.

This is driving me nuts....has anyone else worked through this ?

Thanks

Tim
