Each technology has advantages / disadvantages, depending on one's  
needs. Rsync is file and directory synchronization between nodes,  
whereas AVS is block replication between nodes. AVS provides  
continuous data protection using synchronous or asynchronous  
replication in a write-order manner, is integrated with Solaris  
(shutdown / reboot), Sun Cluster and Netra HA, is filesystem and  
volume agnostic, meaning AVS supports all Solaris single-node  
filesystems, databases and block devices.
