Hi, I'm currently using Samba for SMB sharing my ZFS filesystems, but I'd like to use the OpenSolaris CIFS server because of its better ZFS integration and easier management.
However, I'm using users that are stored in an OpenLDAP directory. (pam_ldap/nss_ldap) Samba supports storing the key (MD4 I believe) that's used by the SMB authentication in LDAP on the user objects, with plugins available for the LDAP server to update this key whenever the LDAP password is changed. Using a local smbpasswd file means the passwords won't be kept in sync whenever I change it on one side, which is pretty inconvenient. Are there any plans for the CIFS server to support something similar, without having to use Active Directory as directory service? Onno
