I guess I wasn't quite explicit enough. I don't want to use AD mode.
This is my home network where the MS-Windows boxen run in workgroup
mode only.

I see that idmap error message every time I try to login, and I see
this message

Feb  5 21:49:09 farnarkle smbd[520]: [ID 653746 daemon.notice] 
SmbLogon[DOPPIO\jmcp]: NO_SUCH_USER

just prior to seeing the idmap error.


I made sure that I've got the pam.conf mods in, I re-regenerated
my passwd on Solaris, and I see the above two messages from both
Windows XP and Vista.


What should I look into for troubleshooting / diagnosing this?
