I have been trying to tune a 2+2GByte 6140 system with 1TB SATA drives
for multi-threaded streaming I/O bandwidth. Currently I am only able
to get the expected sustained 800-900MByte/s if a large number of
vdisks are used, e.g., 8. With just 1 or 2 vdisks the performance is
more like 600MB/s.

It also appears that in some configurations adding more volumes per
vdisk reduces performance.

Is it a known fact that optimal 6140 performance is obtained by running
1 volume per vdisk, and creating several vdisks?

Thanks.
