That was a really good procedure, but has some issues.. and i did try here with
sol10 u4 x86, and did find a lot of errors.
Would be nice if Jim (or someone of the storage devel team), could post a
"howto" for compilation/installation on solaris 10. Actually, that is a issue
that i think we should fix here in our community. I mean, i know this is a
*opensolaris* community, but we can not forget that is a natural path in open
source software, the portability. Everyone here knows what is try to run a
software that has Linux as the *first* choice... For write my monograph, i had
to deal with many of that problems... and now i'm having the same problems
between opensolaris and solaris. That is not nice...
I don't think is a good behavior, try to *force* opensolaris softwares to run
*just* with opensolaris ON. Imagine if we could not run gnome, X, kde, and the
other good open source software on Solaris/Opensolaris?
I did try to find the *old* AVS source code, that i could compile very easy,
and did put the needed procedure here: http://www.posix.brte.com.br/blog/?p=74,
but could not find it. In the actual version, we need to compile the whole ON?
and the ON needs to be compiled on Nevada build XXX ???? Need to have installed
many opensolaris build tools?
How the other version did not require all of that?
I think is legitimate to want run not supported software with Solaris OS. I
see here a *strange* will to *force* users to run 100% opensolaris or 100%
Solaris envs...
Who wants to buy a Solaris contract will do.. create barriers or something, is
the wrong way and wiil help to create more users that see the opensolaris
community not so OPEN (are Linus right?).
I really want that you understand my point, and do not see it like just a
criticism, but just a try to improve the community.
Thanks a lot for your time!

 Leal.
