Alan, I don't know if you found the source of the problem that I have when a DOS program (I used norton commander 4.0) tries to access a cifs server share, but today, while testing latest nexenta.org code, I've found a very easy way to spot this problem.
>From a dos prompt, on a win pc accessing a cifs share, a simple dir ????????.??? finds only those files whose file name is eight chars plus three chars for the extension, while the same command on a windows share finds all the files up to eight chars of filename. I think this is the origin of my problem, I can send you a trace of the request which fails. Hope this helps to fix this issue. Best regards. Maurilio.
