Thumper (and Thumper2) are very interesting hardware but the really 
interesting thing about COMSTAR + ZFS is its total flexibility (other 
than SAN interface card) for how the system is put together.  The 
system could join many existing SAN-attached RAID arrays, it could 
front for several JBOD arrays, or it could be a single-box home-made 
storage server with 8 or 10 drives in the chassis.
