Try replacing "f_sym" in your scsi_vhci.conf with "symmetric-option".

Subject: Re: [storage-discuss] iSCSI Multipathing

Thank you Andrew, I will now describe my problem completly.

The Problem I have is with a Sun Fire x4450 with Solaris 10 X86 update 5, all
recommended Patches where applied.
I have an iSCSI Device (Vendor: NetAPP) which has 2 Network interfaces for
better availability and performance.
So I get these targets on my Solaris machine:
censhare01:~# iscsiadm list target -S
Target: iqn.1992-08.com.netapp:sn.101203508
Alias: NetAppToaster
TPGT: 1006
ISID: 4000002a0000
Connections: 1
LUN: 3
Vendor: NETAPP
Product: LUN
OS Device Name: /dev/rdsk/c2t3d0s2

Target: iqn.1992-08.com.netapp:sn.101203508
Alias: NetAppToaster
TPGT: 1005
ISID: 4000002a0000
Connections: 1
LUN: 3
Vendor: NETAPP
Product: LUN
OS Device Name: /dev/rdsk/c2t4d0s2

Now I want to activate multipathing, that these two devices become one. But the
only thing I´ve found is this http://www.sun.com/blueprints/1205/819-3730.pdf
Which only "talks" about how it works and whatever, especially in this Document
the "MPxIO and Multiple SCSI Target Portals IDs" is what I want!

I already did this, whats in the Device and Filesystem Administrator Guide
stood:
http://dlc.sun.com/pdf/817-5093/817-5093.pdf

In /kernel/drv/iscsi.conf I got:
mpxio-disable="no";

I also added the storage in the scsi_vhci.conf:
device-type-scsi-options-list =
"NETAPP LUN", "f_sym";
symmetric-option = 0x1000000;

I used iscsiadm to configure booth IP addresses of my NetApp storage:
iscsiadm modify initiator-node -c 10.2.1.10,10.2.1.11
iscsiadm modify target-param -c 10.2.1.10,10.2.1.11
iqn.1992-08.com.netapp:sn.101203508

If I list the initiator-node I just get this:
server:/kernel/drv# iscsiadm list initiator-node
Initiator node name: iqn.1986-03.com.sun:01:4a4a34efffff.489b0c47
Initiator node alias: -

server:/kernel/drv# iscsiadm list target-param -v

Target: iqn.1992-08.com.netapp:sn.101203508

But with mpathadm list lu I get nothing and with format I still see too many
devices:

I wrote to Andrew Rutz because I found in this Bug Report:
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6617068
exactly that, what I wanted. I don´t have the Bug, but I also have a NetApp
with iSCSI and want multipathing.

And I don´t understand why this guy has these long device names, which
indicates mutipath capabilities.

I would appreciate any help.
