We are working on using zfs to store the metadata of the LUN. Other
than that a zfs volume can very easily be used as a backing store so
no other abstraction is needed. Regarding the'shareiscsi' option,
COMSTAR has very extensive LUN mapping and masking features which are
hard to stuff inside one CLI command. Even with the current iSCSI
target most people end up using ACLs so its more than just
shareiscsi. We are still evaluating to see if there are some defaults
we can pick and have a 'sharescsi' option.
