That is correct -- the QLogic QLE-220 (e.g., "SMB " / "Fibre Lite")
firmware does not support target mode. The QLE-220's are
also limited to x86 platforms, and will not attach to the qlc driver on
a SPARC platform.
As for bricking the QLE-220, just to make sure, I'd check the
/etc/driver_aliases file and make sure that the 5432 entry is correct.
The entry should be:
qlc "pciex1077,5432"
