All the paths on COMSTAR are always active-active. I am not sure why the paths are showing up as faulty. Try resetting the ports (stmfadm offline-target wwn.... followed by stmfadm online-target www.....) or rebooting the initiator to see if that makes any difference. You can get the stmf trace buffer as:
echo '*stmf_trace_buf/s' |mdb -k > stmftrace.txt This might reveal something. Howdy, I have been reading through the COMSTAR admin guide: http://wikis.sun.com/display/OpenSolarisInfo/comstar+Administration and haven't been able to figure out if the COMSTAR FC target operates in ACTIVE/ACTIVE or ACTIVE/PASSIVE mode. To see what the deal is, I created a multipath.conf file and enabled the ports. This led to one of the two paths to my target being reported as faulty: $ multipath -ll sdc: checker msg is "readsector0 checker reports path is down" mpath2 (3600144f02d658400000049fba1bf0001) dm-0 SUN,COMSTAR [size=100G][features=0][hwhandler=0][rw] \_ round-robin 0 [prio=1][enabled] \_ 1:0:0:0 sdc 8:32 [active][faulty] \_ 0:0:0:0 sda 8:0 [active][ready] The target shows that both ports are online and the initiators are logged in: $ stmfadm list-target -v Target: wwn.10000000C93E4CEB Operational Status: Online Provider Name : emlxs1 Alias : emlxs1 Sessions : 1 Initiator: wwn.2100001B320486C3 Alias: - Logged in since: Mon May 4 15:31:50 2009 Target: wwn.10000000C93E4CEA Operational Status: Online Provider Name : emlxs0 Alias : emlxs0 Sessions : 1 Initiator: wwn.2101001B322486C3 Alias: - Logged in since: Mon May 4 15:31:49 2009 So I'm not real sure if I should be using a failover configuration on the Linux host, or trying to send requests to both targets (or defining a TPGT group with these ports)? I would like to thank Dan for responding to my previous post, and all the COMSTAR developers for for doing such a kickass job wring the FC target! This stuff is pretty badass!
