Hi, what is the status of SATA Port Multiplier support in OSOL? We did some testing with 2009.06 snv111 and a SiI 3124 -based 4-port eSATA controller [1] together with four 5x1 Port Multipliers again from Addonics. These work without issues in Linux and allow 20 disks behind the controller.
In OSOL we could see from 'dmesg' that, what presumable is the first disk, was detected almost okay behind each multiplier at "PMPORT" port 15. But all serial number and firmware infos etc were blank. And drive geometry wrong. Kind of a partial detection... And there does appear to be lots of SATA PMP ground work already done [2,3] including SiI 3124 stuff. But couldn't find who would be the active maintainer of the sata and si3124. Do you have any guesses about port multiplier support progress in OSOL? Should it already be working? Maybe we looked for disks at the wrong place under /dev/dsk/c**? - Jan [1] Addonics ADSA3GPX8: http://www.addonics.com/products/host_controller/adsa3gpx8-4e.asp [2] http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/onnv/onnv-gate/usr/src/uts/common/sys/sata/adapters/si3124/si3124reg.h [3] http://src.opensolaris.org/source/xref/onnv/onnv-gate/usr/src/uts/common/sys/sata/impl/sata.h -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ storage-discuss mailing list [email protected] http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/storage-discuss
