If your using HW raid try going direct to disk or using soft
partitions instead of ZFS and see how the performance is there.
That should be the best you will get and adding ZFS will mix the
results depending on block or record size.
I find either the drivers or io scheduler in Solaris leaves something
to be desired and doesn't drive HW RAID to it's potential.
It's a shame really because the OS is nice to work with.
Local services should benefit from ZFS though, just remote storage
suffers.
If anybody has any suggestions on how to improve/tune HW RAID or IO
scheduling I'm all ears.
