Hi all,
I would like to ask if it is possible to build multi-path environment
with J4000 family in use with OpenSolaris OS. Data sheets on J4000 are
mentioning Win 2008, Solaris 10 u6, RHEL and SUSE, but no single word on
OpenSolaris.
I am quite new to Solaris and OpenSolaris and still working on
understanding the difference between the two OSs. Our plan is to deploy
a NAS server and right now we are in the middle of discussing the
Solaris vs. OpenSolaris thing.
Yes, you can. Support for SAS multipathing (which is what you
use with the J4x00 series) was delivered starting with NV build
snv_65, and then backported to Solaris 10 Update 5.
The way we do development is that new features go firstly into
"the release currently under development" (aka Nevada / NV, which
is the core of OpenSolaris), and then get backported to the currently
released release (Solaris 10 Updates).
This url (http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/820-3070) is the Solaris
Express multipathing guide, also found under
"Install and configure the Sun StorageTek Traffic Manager software: Solaris Express
SAN Configuration and Multipathing Guide"
