I'm also looking for advice on SATA controllers.

The machine I'm working with is used for backups and has a motherboard with
four SATA-I ports and three drives connected to them in a RAID Z. I would like
to add three more 1TB drives to increase the space available for backups but
that requires a SATA controller to increase the number of ports available. I
currently have a UGT-ST200 from a previous upgrade which provides me with an
extra internal SATA-I port and an eSATA port. I could connect one of the 1TB
drives to the eSATA port and put it in an external case or I could go with two
2TB drives although they will be more expensive then the three 1TB drives.

Does anyone have a SATA controller they would recommend that's a decent price
with at least 2 internal SATA ports or should I stick with the UGT-ST200? If
the controller has more than 2 internal SATA ports that would allow for future
upgrades or if it was a PCI Express card that would be a bonus.

Thanks,

Thomas
