I've Googled and Googled for a way to obtain the serial numbers off of SATA
storage devices and haven't found a way.

I have three JBODs, each with twenty four hard drives that make up a 112TB file
system. I would like to be able to figure out what the serial number is for
say c4t2d0. It seems that there should be something to do this. "fmadm
faulty" will return devices that have faulted and it provides the model number,
serial number and location of the faulted device. It would be nice to be able
to run a command that would provide a list of all the devices with model
number, serial number and location. "iostat -E" provides a list but the serial
numbers are missing and doesn't provide location.

Thanks,

Michael
