Hi again,

I forgot to mention, that adding more disks to mirror did not improve the performance at all. The only think which achieved better performance was running more threads with testing code. But still, running 20 times 'tar cf - /tank/dir/[a-t] > /dev/null' gave only 30MBps top (measured via zpool iostat).

I suspect connection between this and size of blocks or something similar, but this is beyond me.

Thank you.

Hi there,

as newbie to Solaris and ZFS, I am testing the performance and so far I am very satisfied. Except copying huge amount of small files. Copying e.g. Linux kernel (350MB, 30 000 files) achieves poor 10MBps. Used configurations included zpool of one up to five physical drive(s) in stripe, mirror, raidz, raidz2 (raidz and raidz2 gave even worse performace).

Am I doing something wrong, or is this default behavior? Can I achieve better performance witch some ZFS tuning?

Thank you,

Jozef Hamar
