it is good to know that at least some Emulex HBAs work with the latest edition of opensolaris (2009.06), but 4GB HBAs are over $500 each. If someone wants to test opensolaris and target mode for a proof of concept, it is not really feasible to spend thousand $$$ for something that may not even work. Considering that comstar used to work fine in previous versions of opensolaris, I am surprised that it doesn't in latest edition of opensolaris, and if you read the forums, you can see that I am not the only one who has this type of problems with emulex/comstar/opensolaris. Emulex LP9002 HBAs that I have don't even work as initiators in Opensolaris 2009.06, at most I can get them to show up as G or L ports on the SAN switch, and regardless of what I do, they always show as offline when I run 'fcinfo hba-port' command.
There also seems to be a number of outstanding bugs possibly related to similar issues like mine, and some of these bugs have not been addressed for months. My question is very simple, and that is if we should expect continued support for Emulex HBAs in target mode in opensolaris, or is it going to be hit and miss to find HBA which works with comstar? I am willing to help in troubleshooting the issues with Emulex HBAs and emlxs driver if someone from comstar or emulex driver dev. team is willing to tell me what they want me to test. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org _______________________________________________ storage-discuss mailing list storage-discuss@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/storage-discuss
