I'm using an ASUS M4A785-M which has an AMD SB700 south bridge controlling the 6 onboard SATA ports. The port multiplier is a Chyung Fun Industries CFI-B53PM board -- the same board BackBlaze use in their storage pods. Its based on a SiI3726. > > Feb 12 10:25:36 opensolaris130 sata: [ID 511305 kern.warning] WARNING: > Port multiplier is on the blacklist. > > This seem marginally disconcerting :) > Heh. Yes. Although looking through the code, it seems several port multipliers do "naughty things". I didn't have much time to stress test the setup last night, but I did build both a concatenated and raidz1 pool on top of it and ran Bonnie++. I am seeing lower performance than I would have expected -- anywhere from 50ish to 80MB/sec with four (4) WD Caviar Black drives attached. I'll do some more benchmarking tomorrow when I have time to set up a more controlled test. -marc
