Any COMSTAR's SCSI logical unit (aka LU) such as disk, tape etc. is not tied to
any protocol. The Nexenta vtape is a LU and can be used over iSCSI/FC/FCoE or
any other transport protocol. The protocols provide SCSI ports (and hence are
called port providers) through which LUs are exposed to the world based on "LUN
mappings" or "view entries" as per COMSTAR documentation.

Subject: [storage-discuss] COMSTAR and VTL

We are looking for directions on how to create a FC virtual tape drive on our
COMSTAR system. I have seen the project from Nexenta but it seems to be iSCSI
only. From the description listed for COMSTAR, VTL seems to be available but I
have not found any information on it.

Thanks
